Guitar Lessons in Bury – Colin Stephens
I have been playing guitar for 36 years now. Teaching for 23 years. I am RGT grade 8 in Electric Guitar Performance. I teach most styles except Classical Guitar. My teaching is the fun approach with the back up of solid musical foundation. Scales, Arpeggios and Chord Construction all with the help of the RGT Syllabus.
Ever wanted to learn how to play the guitar? Whether learning for fun or practising with a view to taking examinations, Colin can teach all styles of guitar from his studio in Bury.
Whether you’re a beginner or advanced, I teach people of all ages – all you need is a passion to learn how to play music. I also have experience teaching students with learning disabilities and find that music is an excellent way to learn how to express yourself.
A semi-professional musician myself, I have 19 years of experience teaching students how to play, in addition to keeping my repertoire fresh and current by playing with local bands in pubs and clubs in the local area. I have even been fortunate enough to play with Ronnie Drew from The Dubliners!
Having studied and attained Grade 8 with the London College of Music, I am also an RGT registered tutor. I can help you progress and prepare to take examinations that are run through and validated by Thames Valley University.
What’s covered:
My style of teaching is based upon my students learning the ‘mechanics’ of the instrument, things you really need to know to learn the guitar properly and fully appreciate how sounds and songs are constructed. Learning the correct theory behind playing the guitar will help you get more out of the sessions.
I can teach you how to play many different styles of music:
- Jazz
- Rock/pop/blues
- Acoustic/electric
- Modern/contemporary pieces
Ultimately allowing you to learn at your own pace is crucial to gaining confidence and improving your learning potential.
