String Skipping
This lesson is about string skipping. I think this is really important because I believe people get too involved with simple, one string, then the next string down/up then the next string down/up.
This lesson will help you develop a little bit of versatility in your both picking and fretting hands, helping you move from one string to another that is not next to it. You will be able to write riffs you may not of found using this technique.
Here we go;
Play and improvise on two strings that are one space apart e.g. A and G, D and B, High E and B, Low E and D…
e.g. Using G And A Strings
e|———————————————|
B|———————————————|
G|——-0-1-3——-4-5-7——–7-9-10——-|
D|———————————————|
A|-0-2-3——-2-3-5——-7-8-10——–10-12-|

Write scales, arpeggios, chords, limiting yourself to a certain amount of strings. Re-write some riffs only using strings 1, 2, 3 spaces apart. Write them an octave higher/lower.
Do something you find difficult and practice until it isn’t. Incoporate this with the bends and vibrato lesson. Bend and limit yourself to certain string spacings.
Write down a riff you always play in TAB format and then re-write it using only certain strings maybe transpose it to another key.
Most importantly. HAVE FUN!
